Negative feedback from caffwin on Fri, 28 Sep 2012 14:05:14 -0500: I sold to jolty00n.

I am leaving a negative for this user for opening a paypal dispute for an item I sent without discussing the situation with me.

They sent me a PM, at first, politely asking where the item they purchased was, saying they did not want to "blame" me for it not showing up after a few weeks, but then I see another email in my inbox saying that they have started a dispute for this issue. I tried to PM them back but their privacy settings do not allow anyone to message them so there is no way I can get in contact or show them the receipt. They didn't even ask for a full/partial refund, ask me if I had another I could send to them (all of which I would consider), or gave me more than a couple hours before the dispute was made. The money was refunded to them and there is no negotiating, so as a seller I am innocently out of postage I paid, as well as the item.

Beware that this person might try to arbitrarily dispute cases on you when you sell to them, and there is no way of contacting them back.

Response by jolty00n on Mon, 1 Oct 2012 18:17:52 -0500: It is true that I opened a paypal dispute, though it was not "arbitrary". I believed that it was just a routine thing to do after an item has not been received in a certain amount of time (see the 35 day rule) and that it could be resolved simply, though on reflection it was a poor choice.

I was also not aware of my privacy settings, which have now been altered to allow PMs from anyone.

I apologise to caffwin for causing them so much trouble.
Response by caffwin on Tue, 2 Oct 2012 23:27:08 -0500: It was completely ridiculous to make a claim without even being able to contact the seller or exchange messages of any kind - I am perfectly easy to get a hold of and have never had a problem in the past. It's not my problem that this user didn't allow PMs from others - NOT an excuse at all to make a paypal claim. This is a rule on the community they clearly did not read, which is to make sure you allow PMs.

Even after sending a picture of the receipt, they have decided to continue the dispute so I am out postage as well as the item.

Sellers BEWARE; I've pretty much been robbed.
Response by jolty00n on Thu, 4 Oct 2012 10:25:52 -0500: I've said several times now that I /did not know/ my privacy settings were like that.

And the dispute wasn't opened for lack of a response, it was opened because it had been five weeks since I paid for the item and I thought that was just something you'd do in a situation like this. Already said I know now that it was a mistake to open it in the first place.

The dispute was left open until last night so you could see my response on it.

I never asked for a refund, I never had any intention to, you refunded me of your own free will so you were hardly robbed.
Response by caffwin on Sun, 14 Oct 2012 01:24:39 -0500: It doesn't matter if you ask for a refund - you are basically guaranteeing that you get all your money back anyway by complaining to paypal that I did not send your item when I had proof.

I'm just going to add one last productive response - everything aside, the fact of the matter is that I provided a receipt and you still filed the claim anyway, which in my opinion is very unfair; it should be your problem and not mine if you don't order insurance. There's nothing more you can really say to excuse yourself.
